I love whole food . They are so convenient to use. Whole food nutrition gives me the vitality and energy I've been looking for.

Nutrition and Whole Food Supplementation

Like most people who are concerned with their health, I have been looking for answers regarding my health through the years. It has been a confusing and frustrating adventure since there is so much misinformation on the subject.

Like most people, including yourself most likely, I have tried commercial vitamins, diet changes, the newest fruit based drink, juicing, and exercise. All of these things worked, but the vitamins were hard to swallow, dieting left me with cravings (especially for chocolate). Fruit based products were too expensive. Juicing was not life stye friendly and a real mess to clean up, and exercise! It was either too hot or too cold for that sort of thing.

I live in the real world just like you. I need something that is easy and convenient. And to boot it needs to taste good. Some might consider me a bit spoiled, but like I tell my husband, I want my cake and I want to eat it too. Well enough about cake.

I started this blog out talking about whole foods. It's a term that is going to be heard about more and more in the nutritional supplement arena. In a nut shell, whole foods are just what you would expect them to be, whole carrots, spinach, bananas, etc. That is where we should actually be able to get our nutrition from. I remember being taught in school when I was a child that if I ate my vegetables, meat and starches, that I didn't really need any thing else to stay healthy. And in actual fact that should be true, however it isn't.

Over the last century there has been a huge shift in farming practises. Large corporations have taken over the food supply and have introduced new pesticides, fertilizers and even radiation to our foods all in the attempt to bring more dollars to the bottom line. The small farmer to compete has to follow suit, after all he has mortgages and a family to support. The exception of course would be the organic farmer, but he has to charge more for his products. This has all led to foods that are lacking in life giving nutrition. We no longer can get what our bodies need from foods that are sold to us at grocery stores or served us at resturants. It is no longer just lack of nutrition from the fast food chains, but lack of nutrition from everyone who buys commercially produced foods.

Today when I go to the grocery store and look at the produce, I find that it has been irradiated. How can I tell? Well there are no bugs anywhere. What! How could I think that was bad? Aren't bugs bad? All I can tell you is that when I go to a road side farm store and pick up produce, there are these little bugs flying around the produce. It's something that should be there when you buy fruit, it's a natural occurance. It happens at grocery stores too, when that food has been locally grown and placed on the shelves.

Irradiation also kills off the enzymes and nutrients. You may be thinking that this couldn't possibly be true. After all if you read all the websites from the government about radiating our foods, they go on and on about how good it is. If you read all of this, keep in mind that big corporations, have professional lobbyists and deeper pockets than others, and they can keep it that way if they can keep their bottom lines profitable, even at the expense of peoples health and well being. To find out more about the effects of radiation go to http://www.organicconsumers.org/irradlink.cfm.
