What's The Vitamin Content?

The biggest question I get when I talk to people about The Feast(TM) is how much vitamin a, b,c etc. is in a serving. It's a natural question since we have all been indoctrinated into this way of viewing nutrition from the pharmaceutical companies which manufacture synthetic vitamins. We are used to seeing claims of there being so many mg. of vitamin c in our pasteurized orange juice all the time, and if you read further down the label you will find the name ascorbic acid which is a synthetic form of vitamin c. We never think to wonder why orange juice which is rich in vitamin c has to have any added to it. Well the packers of the orange juice who had it pasteurized, (essentially cooked) know that their product no longer contains any nutrition (that's why they add sugar to it to make it taste good) so they have to add synthetic nutrients. The reason why they have pasteurized it? Well they give long explanations as to how non pasteurized juices have salmonella and other germs in them that might make us sick, but the bottom line is shelf life.

Fresh fruit juice has a very short shelf life if it is not pasteurized. You can check this out for yourself by squeezing some fresh orange juice and then leaving it in the refrigerator for a couple of days. It goes bad quick, unlike pasteurized orange juice, heck you can leave that in the refrigerator for a couple of weeks and it won't smell or taste horrible. And if you take into consideration that the distributors of orange juice had to have shipped all that juice to you and the time it took for that, you will understand why they pasteurize juice.

Have you ever been to Florida in January when the oranges are being picked and taken to the juice producing plants. There is a most horrible smell as the juice is being pasteurized. When you squeeze orange juice at home, it has a very wholesome aroma. It makes your salivary glands perk up.

Anyways getting back to the original question as to how one judges how much vitamins are in a package of The Feast(TM). There have been studies done on various fruits and vegetable to determine what the nutrient contents of each fruit and vegetable are. You can find a partial chart at http://www.healthalternatives2000.com/ It is done by a Chiropractor and he has a link there to the FDA site where you can find out even more.

Ninety-five percent of fruits and vegetables are grown using synthetic fertilizers and pesticides. I found a comparison study of fertilizers vs organic farming methods at http://www.nutrition4health.org/nohanews/NNSp02NutQualOrganicVsConv.htm and it is an eye opener as to what happens when non organic farming is used. Organic farming practices substantially increases the nutrients in foods along with vitamin content.

These sites are good places to find out more about the natural occurring amounts of vitamins and nutrients which are available in fruits and vegetables. Also go to www.urilife.net/lbeattie to find out how The Feast is a convenient and delicious solution to getting all of your fruits and vegetables everyday!
